昨天聽到 Meat Loaf 去世的消息，他和 Jim Steinman 獨樹一幟的曲式和歌聲大概永遠成絕響了。
很可惜之前他在 Las Vegas 演出時沒去聽一場。年輕的樂迷可能不知道他是誰，我也不介紹他的身平了，反正有維基百科，我就介紹一首歌吧！這張 1977 年發行的 "Bat out of Hell" 專輯是我最喜歡的幾張唱片之一，七首曲子都不錯。維基百科說它賣了4千4百萬張，銷量排行史上第四，超過它的只有 Michael Jackson 的 Thriller、AC/DC 的 Back in Black、和《終極保鑣》的電影原聲帶。
小時候買了這張老歌唱片帶到班上，封面把同學嚇死了，這是什麼邪魔歪道。 XD
年輕時英文不好，歌詞半聽半猜，主要喜歡的是長長的曲式和 Meatloaf 狂放而拉滿張力的歌喉。有網路後查得到歌詞，才發現有幾首歌詞也是非常特別。
今天就聊聊抒情的「三分之二也不錯」Two out of three ain't bad，以後有機會再介紹別的曲子，如「儀表板旁的天堂」和「地獄來的蝙蝠」（欵不是在講 Covid-19）。
英文爛的時候，看歌名「三分之二也不錯」還以為是在三角戀情中有你我兩個也不錯，但歌詞完全不是這回事，根本是用情歌的曲唱表黑的詞。（嘿... 表白的反義是不是表黑？）
下面有原文歌詞和我隨手的翻譯，你覺得這首歌在講什麼？
網路上有些 react 的影片說是男主角被女主角一當工具人拋棄（「我想要你、需要你但不愛你，三個你有二個不錯了」），現在用一樣的說詞拋棄女主角二。這大概是許多人的第一印象。
但我覺得不是。
一開始的雪夜場景是男主角在向女主角表黑，說他想要她、需要她但不愛她，注意在那之前唱了「但你對我冰冷那麼久 我哭出來的都是冰柱」，代表男女主角之間的關係其實是反過來的。副歌之後男主角才唱出當年被女主角用這幾句話拋棄的事，還說她拜金去尋找黃金、石油、寶石、豪車，所以女主角二根本就是回頭的女主角一，但工具人碎掉的心已經補不起來了。
